At last Orkut has an official blog! Link: http://en.blog.orkut.com/
Here is what Orkut founder Orkut Buyukkokten (taken from post: orkut Blog: Welcome!) has to say:
“It’s been more than three years since orkut first launched and now, at last, here’s a blog to go with it (better late than never, right?). We hope that this will be a great way for you to learn about what’s new on orkut, and get to know the orkut team. Here you’ll read about new features, get tips on using old ones, and hear stories about how we work and who we are.
In the past you’ve communicated with us via our Help Center and Group, but we have not communicated with you as much as we would have liked. Since this blog is for you, we’d love to know what you want, so please let us know.
As always, Stay Beautiful!”

Orkut has been one of the most influential community sites in the world. It enjoys tremendous popularity in India, Brazil and US.
Personally, I cannot live without Orkut. It is a great way to stay in touch with friends and build your network too. “Orkutting“, what we call it as, has become a way of life. More than 50% of the employees in any company at any given point of time are on Orkut (this is not a standard fact, but something I have observed). So much so that many companies have banned Orkut. But, employees use proxies to login to Orkut. That is the kind of addiction I am talking about! With students it is a craze! For politicians it is a pain, with many hate communities. For people who want to build a community to pursue a cause, it’s a great place to find like minded people. For people who are in search of jobs or recruits, its a right platform. I can go on and on. In short, Orkut is very helpful and cool!
On the flip side, you can become a scape goat on community sites like Orkut. Your pictures or stories might be all around the Internet. It only takes a click of the mouse for someone to publish bad things / personal things about you over the Internet. So, be careful!
Internet Usage Safety Tip: Always search for your name using Google and Orkut search to check what people are talking about you. If something is wrong, send a complaint to the site webmaster.
Coming back to the point, Orkut is a rage! It has brought us back all our lost friends!
Cheers to Orkut!
