One of the biggest challenges of entrepreneurship is in finding the right talent, hiring and building a strong team. You don’t always need fancy MBA graduates to lead your product. Look for someone who has passion and problem solving skills to get to the ground level to provide solutions.
In this article, Vishwas Mudagal shares some insights on the personality traits you need to look for in a candidate before hiring them!
‘What are the key traits you look for in a candidate before you hire?’ asked someone in an event recently. ‘How do you create a winning team?’
Well, it’s no big secret. First, I look for problem solving skills. Yes, most people dig deep into domain specific skills (e.g. Java, automation, etc.) but I believe domain skills can be picked up easily if one has the aptitude.
In today’s world, problems keep changing. If one can solve problems, he/she can adapt themselves with the new challenges.
Second, I look at how passionate is someone with that particular career path. Here, a combination of right attitude & communication makes a world of difference.
What good are you if you cannot mingle with & motivate your colleagues? I like people who are self-driven. Especially when you are creating a new team, the first few hires will define your DNA. Remember, birds of the same feather flock together.
So, you need the right traits for a strong foundation. A team that believes in questioning the status quo & pushing the limits. In my opinion, age, sex or experience are no bar. Degree or college no bar. Your capability & attitude do the talking. Period.
