>Lead India initiative of Times of India is a great move that captures the desperate feelings of young India to change the political scenario. One aspect in India that hasn’t progressed much since independence is politics. In India, the general opinion is that politics is for power rather than for development. Lead India initiative comes at a right time to encourage the cream of the society to enter politics. It is “the search for the next generation of leaders in India. It is a platform for candidates, with the urgency to ‘do,’ a vision for India and all the qualities necessary to lead a nation, to showcase their skills.“
The selection process is rigorous: 3 candidates get shortlisted from major cities in India. Public voting (via SMS & website) and the decision for jury will choose 1 candidate for each city. They further clash in the national finals and a winner is chosen for India. Times of India claims that “Using the combined weight of all media channels of Times Group, Lead India will showcase the winners’ leadership skills and place them at the doorstep of opportunity to participate in the next Lok Sabha polls.“
