‘Do you have any question for me?’ I asked voluntarily. ‘No, I don’t have any question,’ replied the candidate.
This is the typical response I get from 7 out of 10 candidates I interview. They don’t ask a single question to me about my organization. Candidates think ‘interview process’ is a one-way street. This is a huge mistake! It’s a two-way process.
It’s a great opportunity for you to hear it from the horse’s mouth & understand the company’s projects, work culture, processes, leadership & so on. It will help you decide whether to join them or not. Another aspect–at least do a ten-minute research about the company before you attend the interview. Most candidates are so blank about the company, that it comes across as careless attitude.
You need to shortlist a company after your research & ONLY then go ahead with the interview process. Else, it’s a big waste of your time & their time. Plus, this will also help you prep better for their interview process.
Bottomline – Don’t hesitate to ask questions. In fact, go prepared with a list of questions. Remember, you are trying to build a long-term relationship. They are trying to evaluate you, but don’t forget that you are also evaluating them.
Hope this interview advice helps
