Sports and Leadership are more closely connected than most people would think. Have a glance at what Vishwas Mudagal responded with on this topic:
What’s the best way to teach leadership?’ I was asked by an entrepreneur after I delivered a keynote speech in an event. My answer left him a bit surprised. I told him ‘Sports’ is the most effective way to teach leadership, & in fact make someone a well-rounded person.
Let me explain–No one is a born champion. Champions are made by toiling for years with unwavering determination and dedication. Becoming a champion is an attitude, a way of life—where you never give up, learn from mistakes & always play to win. Incidentally, these traits run common in champions across fields, be it sports, business, tech, or politics.
What then could be the best way to create champions or leaders in society? Many would argue it could be quality education, right syllabus, right parenting, good teachers or friends. Sure, these aspects play a part but we forget one simple fact that it’s sports that is the most potent of all the methods to create well-rounded leaders or champions in the society. Playing sports in your childhood and excelling in any one of them could practically make you a champion for the rest of your life. Sports increases your confidence & risk taking abilities, physical & mental agility, competitive spirit, teamwork, etc.”
